As the Math Chronicles, we want our readers to approach maths from different perspectives, similar to ours! We hope to share current news on mathematics and publish interesting articles, book and movie reviews, and cartoons in each issue. We also want to see you get involved. So, before our next issue, send us an article to publish, and have a go at our published math question challenges! We keep referring to ourselves as “we”, but who are we? Let's dive into that, shall we?

I’ve always been fascinated by how math isn’t just about numbers and formulas but about patterns, logic, and finding elegant solutions to tricky problems. I love how there’s always a sense of discovery—like you’re unlocking a mystery with each new concept. Hi everyone, I am Can, and I am proudly the co-president of The Math Chronicles. I am a Junior and a Second Year IB student with Maths AA, Biology, and Chemistry as my HL’s. Even though I aspire to study biochemistry, the applications of Maths all around the sciences amaze me. Interdisciplinary utilization of the maths topics in especially biology and chemistry always makes me smile. Hello everyone, My name is Nur Deniz, and I am currently an 11th-grade IB student. I’m taking Higher Level classes in Mathematics AA, Physics, and Chemistry, with the goal of studying mechanical engineering in the future. I’m especially eager to dive into the mathematics behind motorsports, as my dream is to one day work in Formula 1. I’ve been passionate about mathematics since childhood, but my enthusiasm has only deepened in high school as I’ve begun exploring more advanced topics. Mathematics is a field that can fully captivate you if you’re brave enough to face each challenge it presents. When it gets overwhelming, sometimes the best approach is to step back, take a break, and then return to the work you love—mathematics. I hope that, as a team, we can work together brilliantly this year to show just how incredible math can be when you truly love it.

I am a person who takes every breath to pursue her goals and savor the moment with her loved ones, despite all the odds. One of my best friends is my air pods which serve me with hundreds of songs in a daily basis. (Hope my best friend does not read this). I relish all kinds of activities consisting of sports and competition, which constantly compels me to the middle of arguments. I have enjoyed Mathematics ever since I knew its existence. Nevertheless, I am never this or that, instead I am what is left in between. Despite my mood swings being faster than a Ferrari, I would never let your high five swing in the air perpetually nor ignore you when you say “hi”.

Not gonna lie, I'm not great at math. But at least I don't hate it. Why am I in this group you ask, why not I say. I like what challenges me.
Thanks to Mathematics, we can make “accurate” calculations in the confines of our own system of perception, which is pretty neat. Without this relaxing feature, our “knowledge” of the universe would be pretty much limited by experimentation, and in this case, it is quite boring and inefficient if you ask me. You can’t try everything; there are certain things you need to be able to predict, and mathematics gets you there. Let’s use Mathematics to find solutions to our problems. But of course, the value of mathematics is beyond making calculations to help us in our lives. For me, this is an aesthetic way to approach everything in life.
